  • Developing sustainable tourism on and around the lake and creating opportunities for business development for the local citizens as well as the international participants in offering their products and services.
Location

Located on one of the largest and most spectacular natural reserves in Montenegro, the Skadar Lake, the site of this FESTIVAL, is especially fortunate in having one of the most magnificent settings in an Area of Outstanding beauty, and being within easy reach of the capital Podgorica (20km) and the splendid Adriatic seaside resorts (40km). This location is a natural phenomenon where, during the summer months, the lake depresses and the River Karatuna appears, leaving the surroundings with rich wild vegetation. The old fishing village of Dodosi has approximately 50 inhabitants, and is recognized as the most beautiful in the region. It is already very popular with visitors.

Accessibility: via motorway, waterways and through the fields. There will be organized transport, and eco friendly means of travel will be encouraged (biking and hiking, sharing transport etc.)

There will be free tent accommodation offered to those who arrive up to 2 days before the event. Visitors will be also encouraged to bring their own tents and reserve their spot in advance. Also there will be limited private accommodation available in the village. The festival site has a capacity of 200.000+.

Skadar Lake is the largest lake on the Balkan Peninsula and the national ecological treasure of Montenegro. In 1983 it was declared a National Park. The lake is 6m above the sea level and there are six different rivers that flow into it. It is the largest European bird reserve with 270 bird species, and 40 fish species. It is also home to numerous endemic species of flora and fauna and it contains rare trees and protected plants. In the region around Skadar Lake there are 20 monasteries, churches, villages, fortresses and 18 important historic monuments, testimony to Montenegrin history since the 11th century.

The lake area is threatened by destruction through negligence due to lack of available important information. Raising funds through this festival will help to preserve the natural habitat and educate visitors about the importance of protecting our environment, and in turn our whole planet, from pollution. This mission will be combined with fun and enjoyment of music, arts and crafts, and of course traditional cuisine and homemade wine.
